Typing practice

In life, there are two types of people: builders and bulldozers.  Builders are optimistic; they support and strengthen everyone around them.  Builders encourage, compliment, and treat others with kindness.  They build confidence in anyone they encounter.  Bulldozers tear others down.  They use negativity, critical words, and harsh judgment to make others feel inadequate.
We've all encountered builders and bulldozers, and we all remember how they made us feel. Chances are, we've all been both builders and bulldozers at some point in time.  With bullying reaching epidemic proportions, 1 in 3 U.S. students report having been bullied at school in 2014.  Isn't it time to flip the switch?  It truly is just as easy to treat someone with kindness as it is to be cruel.

Embed YouTube clips into Powerpoint

In high school you will be required to make Powerpoint Presentations that include video clips.

Here are some videos to use.  Do NOT search for videos.  Use only these.  You may watch them and then embed them into your Powerpoint.  (Studio C - Oregon Trail)  (Kid Snippets - Josh Groban) (Cliff Rope Swing)  (Kid History 1) (Flyboarding) (Cute Kittens Fly) (Fruit Ninja in Real Life)

Here is a basic tutorial on how to embed YouTube clips into Powerpoint.

In Powerpoint, click the Office button and go to Powerpoint Options (bottom of menu).

Click the box that says Show the Developer Tab in the Ribbon.

Click the Developer Tab, and then click the Tool (wrench/hammer) button.

Click Shockwave Flash Object, then OK.

Make a large box on your slide.  The box will look like it has a large X in it.  (Make sure your slide is blank.)

Right click the center of the box and choose Properties.

In the blank box next to Movie, paste the YouTube URL.

In the URL, erase watch?  Also, erase the = and make a / instead.

In the boxes next to Loop and Playing, change them to False instead of True.

Close the box and then play the slide.  You will see a box pop up that says "I recognize this content.  Allow it to play."  Click that option.

Your video should play now.
